Signing Sealed

West Ham completed the signing of David Connolly on Thursday evening.

The total fee payable to Wimbledon, contrary to some claims, is £285,000, and he has signed a three year contract.

David is an Eire international, having been capped 36 times for his country - scoring 8 goals.

The 26 year old, 5'9" forward notched 42 goals in 63 league starts at Wimbledon over two seasons, having joined them on a free transfer from Feyenoord.

He had spent four years under contract to them - one of which was on loan at Wolves - but only played one game for the Dutch club.

At Molineux, however, he managed six goals in 18 league starts, and he also had a successful spell at Dutch club Excelsior on loan.

The Willesden-born striker was awarded Sky TV's Soccer AM show's Golden Shoe last season for the first division's best goals per game ratio - an impressive 0.48 in the league.

He started out at Watford, where Glenn Roeder gave him his league debut, and recorded 10 goals in 19 league starts there.
