A report saying that the newly promoted outfit had bid for Rufus' services indicated the high esteem in which he is held elsewhere, but Glenn says:
"I can specifically say that Rufus Brevettt will not be joining Portsmouth - or any other club.
"I have had heard the rumour and I know it to be true; I was tipped off about it before, but he is a key member of our team, under contract, and one of the last players we would want to leave.
"He did very well last year and was a very hard act to follow considering he replaced Nigel Winterburn, who was such a favourite.
"Anyone coming in would really have to impress - and Rufus did just that very quickly.
"His colleagues took to him as soon as he arrived around the time Les Ferdinand came; that is because of his nature - he is a decent human being.
"On the field he has a nice controlled aggression which all good players have."
