Nigel, who plays with his wrist in a bandage at the moment, has held off the operation as long as possible, but Glenn admits: "Nigel will need to have it in the next week or so - and it could keep him out for a month.
"Rufus is a player we have been looking at for some time. He likes to get forward, he is a good crosser of the ball, and he is aggressive.
"We all know that Nigel will unfortunately be retiring this summer, so it is a situation we have been looking to resolve - and Rufus is a player we have been looking at for some time.
"With the transfer window closing we knew we had to make a move, and Rufus will be with us for this season and the next two."
With Nigel's original intended replacement, Vladimir Labant, on loan at his former club Sparta Prague, with a permanent move almost certain, and Scott Minto's contract up this summer - not to mention the fact there are no obvious replacements at the moment amongst the youth ranks - the signing of Rufus represents important business for the club.
