Pair Progressing

Paolo Di Canio and Fredi Kanoute are both making excellent progress towards returning to first team action - and should be back within the fortnight.

Paolo, who was recently visited at his rehab centre in Bologna by a Hammers delegation, and Fredi, currently with John Green in the USA receiving specialised treatment, are being closely monitored by Glenn Roeder, who says: "Paolo is coming on really well. I phoned him on Saturday night after the game and he told me that after Paul Aldridge, Ges Steinbergs and Russell Holman came back from Italy he had another couple of days training really well, and he is playing football again.

"It is only a matter of time now before he steps on a plane to come back and play in England.

"John Green assures me that Fredi Kanoute is going really well and is enjoying his rehab work.

"He is getting confidence from it as well, which is important for Fredi - that he knows the groin will be strong enough to play football week in, week out, and John feels there has been a breakthrough.

"So we are ever so positive that we will have Paolo and Fredi back in football inside two weeks now - and that will be excellent."

Glenn also reveals that Paolo is delighted with the signing of Lee Bowyer, and adds: "I didn't really bring up the subject with Paolo but apparently he said to Paul Aldridge that he felt Lee Bowyer's signing was a very positive one for the club - and that he was looking forward to playing with him."
