"I knew about Lee when I was playing in France, he is a good player," says Edouard, who retained his place in West Ham's line-up against Newcastle United on Saturday despite the return of Steve Lomas and the addition of Lee to the side.
"I think he is going to make West Ham play well, and it is a good decision to get him
"We are happy he has signed - it means more competition for me, but that is okay, and we all feel good about him coming."
As for his own future, and the fact that Glenn Roeder has been impressed with him since his arrival, Ed says: "The West Ham board can make me stay and I am really happy at West Ham, so we will see.
"But the 'decision' now is to play well and help West Ham go up the table - that is the first target.
"There are no negative thoughts from me, and it is good news that we are no longer bottom.
"If we continue to play like Saturday we will take confidence."
But did he expect to be in a relegation battle when he joined the Hammers?
"Yes and no. In football nobody knows what will happen so that is really difficult to answer," he says.
