Christian, who is mainly being treated by club doctor Shaun Howlett, missed the trip to Walsall with pleurisy contracted last week, and fellow club doctor Ges Steinbergs explains:
"I saw him on Sunday and he was a lot better and a lot brighter."
Explaining the illness, he adds:
"It is an infection and inflammation of the lining of the lung.
"It is a bit unusual but the consequence of an infection.
"Often people just get coughs and colds but sometimes it goes to the deepest part of the lung, the lining, and it can be very sore.
"It leaves you feeling pretty drained for a while; it is not like being off with a sore throat for four or five days.
"It really is quite internal and does really tire you.
"But Christian trains really hard, he is very fit, and he is on the mend."
Whether he returns for the Wigan game in the F.A. cup remains to be seen, but Ges says:
"It is likely to be two weeks from when he got it so I can't see him being involved in the next two games."
