Alan On Transfers

Alan Pardew says that he expects "a lot of phone calls" during the transfer window - but he won't be encouraging them.

With Premiership clubs able to buy and sell in just under two weeks' time Alan says:

"I think any team that gets relegated and is carrying classy individuals means that the Premiership are going to come sniffing for bargains and I expect to get a lot of phone calls in the transfer window so I am going to have to see how that manifests itself.

"I won't be chasing anything; we will react to what happens."

Alan was baffled by a story linking him with Darren Huckerby and adds:

"It made no sense; I have always liked Darren who is a terrific player at this level but there is no interest from us.

"The one department we are nice and strong in at the moment is up front."

Chris Cohen became the latest player off the production line when he made his full debut on Saturday and Alan adds:

"He excites me and we have got another lad, Mark Noble, who has been training with us and if the results don't kick in as I would want then I will not hesitate to bring those two in.

"They have a big future here and Chris has made his debut now so he is much more settled around the team and he is a terrific talent who I am looking forward to seeing in a West Ham shirt."
