"I can't see it being another 4-3 game, I think this one will be a lot tighter with maybe a draw or the odd goal deciding it either way down," he says.
"If we win it is down to a four point gap, or up to 10 if we lose, but I still make West Brom favourites in a very close division.
"They had a good result against Manchester United - although it was a reserve side they put out they still had to go and do it.
"It is a big game for us but the signs are there from last week, particularly with the form of Marlon Harewood, that we have a good chance in the game.
"There is a long way to go, even if we do lose, and West Brom always were my favourites, but I think the two teams playing each other on Saturday will go up in the automatic spots.
"I have every faith in us and we have the strikers challenging for places up front with the option of three up front; we have enough choices up there and I fancy us to have a good second half to the season."
As for the speculation regarding Jermain Defoe that popped up once again, he adds:
"It doesn't half get boring but if, when the window opens, one of the big clubs puts an offer in - and I think it would have to be an offer from one of the big clubs because it wouldn't be worth him moving to a lower Premiership side - then it would be up to Alan Pardew to decide.
"If it was an offer too good to refuse - you might suggest it would be above the £12m mark - then if you sold him you would have to pinpoint what he wants to strengthen his side.
"But it is not on the table and in the meantime let's see Jermain scoring the goals that are going to push us up there.
"And hopefully the Wigan win will have given us the confidence booster we need."
