Youths Triumph

West Ham's youth team edged their way through to the fourth round of the FA Youth cup after a 1-0 win over Huddersfield - and now take on Chester-Le-Street in the next stage at home.

"It was a tough examination of all our qualities tonight as we were under pressure for long periods," says Tony Carr.

"We defended well and broke out to score an excellent goal; Cole, Reid, and Blewitt were the instigators and Tony Stokes finished it off.

"I don't know what the exact crowd was but it was obviously very vociferous in favour of them, and I would say it was 1,000 plus.

"We have a home draw in the next round and we were drawn against Derby or Chester-Le-Street; Chester-Le-Street beat Derby 2-1, a game that I went to - they had beaten Port Vale and Hartlepool on the way so it will be a tough, tough game.

"We played Oadby last season and they are a step above Oadby, that is for sure; they are well organised and coached, and very committed.

"It will be a tough nut to crack and if we take it lightly we will come unstuck - but at least we are at home.

"I thought Tommy Laws was outstanding, as were all the back four, it must be said, and Matt Reed made one vital save at 0-0 which kept us in the game - it was their one clear cut chance and he did well to keep it out."
