The on-loan striker has fond memories of facing the Blades recently - he was a member of the Liverpool side that overcame Neil Warnock's side in last season's Worthington Cup semi-final and in fact scored his first senior goal for the Reds in the first leg at Bramall Lane.
And as he aims to repeat his heroics against United at Upton Park today, the 20-year-old admits that Hammers will have to match their opponents for work-rate and determination if they are to secure a third win in the space of seven days.
Says Neil: "I got a nice goal against them last season, but the thing with Sheffield United is that they are a very hard-working team - they caused Liverpool a lot of problems.
"Neil Warnock is a character, but he's also a good manager and he led Sheffield United to a great season last year. They've got some top quality players - the likes of Michael Brown and Michael Tonge - who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in the past, and they are players who are capable of playing in the Premiership.
"They are a tough side to beat, and they will be the same this weekend. If we can get a good result against them, it will give us a big boost for the rest of the season."
Neil, of course, is fully geared up to play an important part of Hammers' push for promotion over the coming months, and has been encouraged by his first week at his new temporary home.
"I've been here a week and things have started well, we've picked up two wins, which is the most important thing," he says.
"It was a big decision to come down here, I didn't know anyone at the club. Obviously I knew of the players through watching them play, but it was all completely knew.
"I knew nothing about the club or the area, but I was willing to come and give it a go, and I have been very pleased with the way it has gone so far and I'm up for the challenge.
"It all happened very quickly last week and, to be honest, I'm not fully match fit yet. It will take me a few games to get there but once I am firing on all cylinders then hopefully the West Ham fans will get to see the best of me."
