"It is another experienced player which is obviously vital with the number of young lads we are going to have and it is a welcome acquisition," he says.
"I think one thing we do have is togetherness with the squad being quite small and the young lads coming in; it has been reasonably easy for the boys who have come in to feel at home at the club because there are so few players.
"In one aspect everyone wants more players to come but when you have got great team spirit and togetherness it can cover up for loads of things because at the end of the day it is about how the team gels.
"I think they have been surprised at how welcome and at home they have felt already; they have been thrown in and that is the best way sometimes."
He is delighted with David Noble's debut on Wednesday and adds:
"It was great for him, a good player who is obviously still learning the game - but he has loads of attributes that can make him a first team regular in the very near future."
Christian is hoping the team can make it three on the trot and adds:
"It would be good to keep it going - I think we started off okay and the boys are really pleased with getting two wins - it would be good to continue because winning can become a habit."
Of the weekend action against Sheffield United, he says:
"They can sometimes have a reputation of being like that but at times they play a lot of good football; they have come on in leaps and bounds in the last few years and we hope with the crowd behind us we can do it."
He is pleased that Ian Pearce is back, adding:
"He is a top defender and it is great to have someone with his experience and ability back."
