"I thought David James played his part in what was, in my opinion, the best England performance since the 5-1 win over Germany, although some have suggested it was only the best since Argentina in last year's World Cup," says Glenn.
"It was a fantastic game to watch and the atmosphere came through the TV screen, it was exciting, and the commitment the England players showed was great.
"People that questioned their commitment and passion were made to look miles away from the truth because there was plenty of that, and a great deal of quality as well.
"David James played his part in the team effort and it was good of him to say that after the game rather than just take full credit himself for the saves he had to make.
"He showed a lot of humility there by saying that all he did was play his part in a terrific team performance - which is exactly what he did."
Glenn was also pleased to see Glen Johnson make his England under-21 debut at Newcastle and he adds: "I went to the game on Tuesday evening and it was good to see the boys play, and good to be there when Glen Johnson stepped on the pitch to earn his first under-21 cap.
"He thoroughly deserved that and he had a good 20 minutes; we just have to make sure we keep a check on his rapid rate of progress.
"He has just signed a four-year contract and his rise has been rapid but fortunately he has such a strong mature personality that he is taking it all in his stride - that is important, needless to say, but I am sure he will do."
