The Blackburn boss gave his opinion of his player's talents and, although Glenn responded at the time - which was when the two sides met last season - he has not spoken on the matter since.
All of which means he is dismayed that the matter has resurfaced and been presented in a manner which infers that he is having a disagreement with Souness.
Setting the record straight, he insists:
"I have not spoken to the media this week about David Dunn and Joe Cole.
"I am loathe at any time to talk about someone else's players, and would hope other managers wouldn't speak about mine.
"However, as it has come up, as I speak now on Wednesday evening, I would just say that they are both fabulous players that one day soon will go on to play in the England senior team together."
Indeed, Glenn is hoping for a fruitful week for his players, with the news that Michael Carrick has now been called up for the England U21 side.
"I hope David James starts for the full England team, I would like to think Joe will, and it is possible with Trevor Sinclair we will have all three getting a cap," he says.
"Jermain Defoe and now Michael Carrick are involved with the U21s on Friday, and I hope Gary Breen has a good game for Eire against Russia on Saturday.
"In my opinion, when he gets that under his belt he will be up and ready for first team selection.
"Christian Dailly is in the Faroes with Scotland, Vladimir Labant is playing for Slovakia against Turkey, and Titi Camara is playing for Guinea against Liberia.
"Hopefully they all will come back healthy for training on Monday."
