West Ham United travel across the capital on Wednesday in buoyant mood after picking up only their second win of the season at Sunderland last Saturday.
The Hammers climbed out of the bottom three for the first time since August after Trevor Sinclair's brilliant strike inflicted defeat on the Black Cats in Howard Wilkinson's first game in charge.
But it will not be easy against a Fulham team who are unbeaten at their temporary home of Loftus Road so far this season. Jean Tigana's team were unfortunate not to defeat Manchester United last weekend, Steed Malbranque missing a late penalty following Fabien Barthez's gamesmanship.
The spot-kick was one of a number of opportunities the Cottagers spurned to add to Steve Marlet's first-half opener, but at least their goals-to-shots-ratio of 13% is better than their below-average return of nine per cent in 2001-02.
Marlet is in confident mood at the moment after scoring twice in France's recent 5-0 win over Slovenia in a Euro 2004 qualifier, the former Lyon talisman has attempted 18 shots this season - more than any other Fulham player - and is sure to pose a few problems for the visitors defence.
However the Hammers rearguard go into this match having just kept their first shut-out on the road this season and David James will hope to further his England credentials with another clean sheet.
But it has been almost 15 years since West Ham last won at Loftus Road and their supporters may have to be content with just a point on Wednesday night.
