Vote For Your Player Of The Month!

In a fantastic new feature on whufc.com, Hammers fans will now be able to choose their official Player of the Month throughout the season, with votes currently being taken for September's star man.

September turned out to be a month of gradual but welcome improvement for the Hammers. After the international break early on, it started belatedly with the disappointing home loss against Premiership new-boys West Bromwich Albion, followed by a 3-2 defeat at London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who scored a last-minute winner to deny Glenn Roeder's men a point.

The losing streak thankfully ended a week later when Manchester City were held to a hard-fought 0-0 draw at Upton Park - a game that signalled a welcome first clean sheet of the season - and September ended on a high note with the first victory of the campaign, a magnificent 3-2 win over previously unbeaten Chelsea.

But who do you feel made the biggest and best contribution to the claret and blue cause during the month? Maybe Paolo Di Canio's memorable performance against Chelsea and setting up both our goals in the narrow defeat at Tottenham will be enough to see the Italian collect the majority vote, or perhaps the endless determination and creativity of Joe Cole shone out in all four matches? David James' superb save from Nicolas Anelka helped avoid a disastrous defeat against Kevin Keegan's men and the England keeper was typically solid and dependable throughout the month, while the return of Steve Lomas from injury added some vital experience to the Hammers' midfield.
