Friendly Win

West Ham reserves beat QPR reserves 1-0 at Chadwell Heath on Thursday afternoon, with Laurent Courtois grabbing the winner.

The game afforded Izzie Iriekpen another 90 minutes action, and Roger Cross says:

"The boy is coming back from quite a serious knee injury that kept him out for nearly two years, and it is important he keeps coming through these reserve games, which he is at the moment.

"He is showing very little or no sign of discomfort, which is a big bonus, because at one time he thought it was all going to be over, but it's not."

Roger will look to play friendlies when there are no second string games earmarked, and he adds:

"It was a training ground friendly and the most important thing is I don't like to keep any weeks free now, which we probably did last season; I just want to keep the lads going on a regular basis.

"It was just a case of keeping everyone in trim and match fit - it was a decent workout."

The next official reserve game is on Wednesday against Coventry City.
