With no match at the weekend, there is no further action for the Hammers at Upton Park until Manchester United visit 10 days hence which is a sell-out.
Glenn Roeder must decide how to accommodate Fredi Kanoute's return after missing the trip to Aston Villa with illness, which could mean Jermain Defoe making way.
But his assistant Paul Goddard says:
"Jermain Defoe was always a threat on Saturday, he worked hard, and always kept the Villa boys on their toes."
Richard Garcia is hoping to retain his place in the side with so many midfielders missing, and Paul adds: "Don is obviously out with his cruciate and waiting for his operation, while Steve Lomas and John Moncur are also out.
"It is very tough for a young player to come in, and that was a high quality game.
"Richard had a slight calf and foot strain which he was a bit worried about at half time so we decided to make a change at the weekend."
The match could provide another opportunity for Vladimir Labant to start after he came on for Richard on Saturday, and Paul says:
"Vlad can't speak English yet and he is learning the rigours of Premiership football, such as the speed of it; that can catch people out, especially when you are coming on as sub.
"Principally he is a left back and we are having to ask him to play out of position, so that is not easy for the lad - but I'm afraid that when needs be that must happen."
