Tony Gale hopes that Trevor Sinclair keeps his place for the crunch World Cup game with Nigeria on Wednesday after his performance as a substitute in England's 1-0 win over Argentina.
Trevor came on for the injured Owen Hargreaves after just 18 minutes of the game in Sapporo, and Tony enthuses: "That may have been a blessing in disguise because Trevor did everything right when he came on, and I am very pleased for him.
"I hope he starts against Nigeria; since he rejoined the squad he has looked perfect for the part, a totally different person.
"As soon as Trevor came on he was taking players on and looking good - in the best of company and against excellent opposition."
Ironically, the injury to Hargreaves might well have led to an appearance for Joe Cole, but he received an slight thigh injury in training which ruled him out of his second World Cup finals appearance.
It is expected, however, that he will be available for the final group game against Nigeria.
Trevor had to switch from the left to the right midway through the second half when Michael Owen was replaced by Wayne Bridge, and Tony adds: "He never looked out of place on the right either - we all know how versatile he is."
Tony also has special praise for Rio Ferdinand, and adds: "We would still claim him as one of 'ours', and I think he will prove to be one of the world's best defenders after this."
