Steve Still Searching

Steve Potts says he is still looking for another club - despite reports linking him with a move to Second Division Colchester United.

Steve, who was released in the summer after more than 17 years as a first team player at Upton Park, admits:

"There is nothing happening at the moment and I am just ticking over by training on my own.

"It looks as if clubs are being a bit cautious at the moment and although there has been contact from one or two clubs there is nothing concrete at this stage.

"I am just waiting to see what crops up - I would certainly like another year of playing before I retire."

It is a sign of the economic times that a player as accomplished as Steve, with two decades of first class football behind him, has not yet found a club with pre-season training well under way.

But he insists: "I have an open mind about what will happen, or what part of the country I might go to."

When told that the new transfer window, so vehemently opposed by Glenn Roeder, closes at the end of August for the year, he admits: "If I haven't got a club by then I don't know what I will do - we will just have to wait and see."
