After Old Trafford, there are games with Fulham and Bolton either side of Christmas, and Tomas insists:
"It is a very difficult game against Manchester United and for me the result is very important.
"It is possible to win, and then we have two games at home which are important - and for me it will be two wins and six points.
"We were unlucky not to win at Middlesbrough and three points would have made a real difference, but the equaliser was when a corner came over and it was a good header from Ehiogu."
Tomas has re-established himself in the side after going off at half time in the home defeat by Leeds, and he says:
"It was difficult, then I missed two games, which was better for me, because I was a little bit stressed; I spoke with Glenn and now there is no problem.
"Last season we played much better whereas now we are at the bottom and for me it is a new situation but we all played well in the last two games.
"As for me, I am not playing my best; there is more to come from me as I am not 100% yet."
Tomas has also bid farewell to Slovakian Vladimir Labant, with whom he shares the Czech language, following his return to Sparta Prague, initially on loan.
"Vlad is a good player but it is difficult for him on the left where Nige and Trevor Sinclair play," says Tomas, whose English is getting better by the day.
