West Ham United would like to apologise to supporters after the
wrong attendance for yesterday's Premiership match against
Newcastle United was given out by our PA announcer.
A figure of over 28,000 was originally announced but, although the ticket office could have easily have sold this amount and more, the correct attendance was in fact 24,810.
The current capacity of the ground is just under 24,900. Unfortunately, as Newcastle United returned a number of tickets from the visitors allocation, the match didn't quite reach sell out status, despite all available home fans seating being sold.
We apologise for any confusion this may have caused and look forward to welcoming those supporters who were unable to purchase a ticket yesterday when Upton Park's capacity increases to over 35,000 in November.
