Hayden Foxe says the mood of the players is positive as they
prepare to face Southampton.
But he admits it has been a tough week.
"I think the defeat was very embarrassing not only for us as players, but for the manager and the whole club - everyone involved with West Ham," he admits.
The players and staff had a meeting on Monday to discuss the situation and Hayden adds:
"We had a sit-down talk about a few things, said what had to be said, and cleared the air.
"We spoke about the need to put a lot more commitment in; there are going to be days for any footballer when your touch isn't the best and the passing doesn't go right, but you can never stop trying on the football pitch.
"It was definitely a positive meeting; everyone was still shell-shocked and embarrassed about what happened.
"But we got everything out in the open and we have to forget about it now, turn the negatives into positives, and get on with the job.
"I know all the boys are in the right frame of mind now, it is a totally different atmosphere to what it was on Monday morning."
He says the hype surrounding Glenn Roeder is ridiculous and adds:
"That is just critics waiting to jump on the bandwagon; if we get a couple of good results they'll all be saying we are fantastic.
"Everyone is happy with Glenn, and to be fair he has got to be given a chance.
"He has only just taken over and yes, we've had a couple of terrible away games - and only two home games.
"We are supposed to do the job he has asked us to do when we walk out on that pitch; he can't go out there.
"If he could he would but unfortunately the rules state that the manager has to stay on the side of the pitch!
"Everyone is going to have an off day but you can never be short of commitment."
Nonetheless, he is struggling for reasons to explain why it went so wrong at Blackburn, and admits:
"I don't know, you can't put your finger on it; bad defending as a team, individual errors, a bit of everything.
"We could have nabbed a result but you have to learn to adapt when you go down a man, and we obviously didn't adapt well enough."
Hayden, a half time substitute for Christian Dailly, hopes to really kick start his season against Southampton and adds:
"I hope to start every game but you have to wait and be there for the whole team; it's a squad game and we all get the results together.
"We're not looking back now, just thinking about getting three points for the club."
