Glenn Roeder denies reports that he is looking to do a deal with
Arsenal for Ray Parlour with Michael Carrick going the other way.
"There isn't any truth in the story," he says, "and there hasn't been any contact between Arsenal and West Ham discussing the players - either as a single item or as an exchange.
"Once again it is speculation that is used to fill the papers every day."
He has not spoken to Michael about the reports and adds:
"Michael Carrick is such a level headed boy that you don't have to talk to him about newspaper speculation.
"If Michael felt he needed to talk to me he knows that like all the other players my door is always open and he can come in for a chat.
"The fact that he hasn't done that means that when he saw it he knew like I do that it is just speculation and didn't bother to come in and see me.
"Michael Carrick is already a full international at 20 and I'm sure by the time he gets to 30 he will have won many caps for England - and honours in the game, hopefully with West Ham."
As for the Ray Parlour link, although Glenn is a known admirer of the player, he says:
"If players aren't at your club it is not really right to comment on them."
