On this day in Hammers' history:

1926 - Vic Watson grabs a consolation as Bury claim a 2-1 win at Upton Park, leaving the Hammers still without a win at home since the start of the season.

1954 - Harry Hooper and Albert Foan are the scorers as Hammers register a comfortable 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest at Upton Park.

1961 - Hammers lose at Upton Park in the League Cup for the first time in the competition's two-year history. Aston Villa secure a 3-1 win in the second round, with Malcolm Musgrove scoring for the hosts.

1965 - Hammers crash to a 5-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest in the First Division - already the fourth time this season they have conceded five goals in one match.

1971 - Geoff Hurst scores for the Hammers in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Upton Park

1982 - Goals from Alvin Martin, Geoff Pike and Sandy Clark secure a fantastic 3-1 win over Liverpool in front of 32,500 fans at Upton Park.

1984 - Bristol City are thrashed 6-1 in the Milk Cup second round second leg at Upton Park, with Tony Cottee (2), Paul Goddard (2), Steve Whitton and Steve Walford on the scoresheet. Only 11,376 are there to witness the event.

1991 - Kevin Keen, Trevor Morley, George Parris and Mike Small are the scorers in a 4-0 win over Bradford City in the Rumbelows Cup second round second leg.
