West Ham's U19s lost 6-3 at home to Ipswich at the weekend, while the U17s grabbed a 3-1 win in Suffolk.
"We were 3-2 up with 14 minutes to go," says Tony Carr of the U19s game, "but we conceded two soft goals while Billy McMahon was chipped for another one.
"We started the game poor, going two down, and we finished badly as well.
"By the end of the game we were a sorry, demoralised lot, I'm afraid to say.
"But it is all part of the learning process - and Ipswich are a very good side who are top of their league."
James Allen [2] and Freddie Eastwood grabbed the goals.
As far as the U17s are concerned, Peter Brabrook says he is delighted with the win.
"It was an excellent performance against a very, very good side," he emphasises.
"We scored three great goals - and could have had more."
Fletcher [2] and Morris got on the score sheet.
