Shaka, who has put contract talks with the club on hold until a new man is appointed, hopes that Harry Redknapp's successor will rate him as highly as H himself did.
His contract is up next summer, and West Ham certainly don't want to lose out on a fee for the man Harry described as "one of the best free transfers ever" if a parting of the ways becomes likely.
But Shaka is adamant that if the new man wants him, he will stay, explaining: "If he wants to keep me I will be only too willing to stay but I can't do that if he doesn't want me.
"I'll be keeping my fingers crossed, but it all depends on the new appointment."
Shaka will not be rushing into a meeting with the new boss, however, and says: "It is unsettling at the moment but when the new man arrives I'm sure he will have lots of personal issues to deal with, so it will only be fair to let him settle into the job.
"He will want a closer look at me as a person and a professional, but I hope that, given time, the decision will be a favourable one."
Shaka admits he was saddened by the loss of Harry and says: "It was a surprise for me like it was for everyone else: I expected he would be here longer than most of the rest of us.
"It came as a great shock, especially the timing of it, just as we were safe.
"I suppose everyone has to move on but it came quicker than we expected.
"I fully expected Harry to be making new signings and taking the steps to avoid the problems we encountered last season.
"I got on very well with Harry, who showed great faith in me, and believe I developed more in the last three years than at any other times in my career. I do believe I improved a lot under him."
As for who the new man should be, Shaka doesn't know who, but certainly knows what kind of attributes he will need to bring with him.
"Harry brought a great sense of personality and character to the team and we all associated with that," he says "Now we will have to look to someone else to bring in that sense of character."
Shaka shares the supporters' hopes that whoever the next incumbent is, he will not abandon Harry's sense of style.
"Even as a keeper it is more satisfying to play for a team with flair rather than one that just tries to nick the odd goal. It certainly makes my life adventurous but a whole lot more rewarding.
"I've really got no idea who they have in mind, but it must be someone who has a strong character that they can impose on the team."
