West Ham United v Southampton

Southampton travel to London on the back of a very impressive display at Newcastle in midweek when the Saints finally ended their nine-hour goal drought with Marian Pahars' late leveller.

Stuart Gray's team will travel to Upton Park with their confidence boosted after taking just one point out of a possible 15 prior to the Newcastle game.  But it won't be easy up against a West Ham side that still need another point to make absolutely sure of their Premiership status next season.

Harry Redknapp will be pleased to know that the Hammers have the more impressive shooting accuracy with 45% of their shots testing opposing goalkeepers compared to the Saints 40% ratio this season.

Although the east Londoners have not scored in open play for 315 minutes and will once again be without the services of top-scorer Frederic Kanoute who is struggling to be fit with a hip problem.  His ten goals, which mainly came before the New Year, saw the team on the fringes of a European spot but with only two Premiership wins behind them in 2001, the club are finishing the season in just as poor fashion as they started it.

But online bookmakers www.surreySPORTS.com make the Hammers to reverse their recent poor form and come out on top against the south coast side 2-0 a 7/1 possibility.

To achieve this West Ham may need to focus on improving their tackling as Southampton boast a superior tackle success rate by some five percentage points. The Saints have managed to win 76% of their challenges, although to their credit, only Everton have attempted more than the Hammers 1,024 tackles this term.

Benji Romaner.

Matchday Referee: C Wilkes

Referee Clive Wilkes is the only regular Premiership official not to have sent a player off this season and with these two teams receiving just three red cards all season it is unlikely that he will be breaking his duck on Saturday.
