Courtois Waits

Lauren Courtois is waiting to hear if Glenn Roeder wants to sign him - and insists he can make the step up in class.

Lauren, a left sided midfielder, played for 85 minutes at Peterborough on Tuesday night before being taken off when ex-Hammer Jimmy Bullard cleared a ball straight into his ear from 10 yards.

He was recommended by Fredi Kanoute, and says: "He told me it was more physical over here and I know I will need time to acclimatise but I want to play in the English league in order to progress my career.

"I know it is more physical but, because the standard is better here than in France, I want the opportunity to prove myself."

Lauren has been playing for Toulouse in France and adds: "Toulouse are letting me go for nothing or next to nothing because they have money problems.

"They are in the third division and are having to give players away.

"I know it is a big step but I think I can do it.

"It has been  a real pleasure playing with West Ham so far, and Fredi told me they like good technical players here.

"I have had two or three offers from England but when Fredi told me I could have a trial here I went quickly.

"Now I am hoping Glenn will take me on - I certainly hope so, but we will see."
