If, by Glenn's own admission, he came into the manager's job through the back door, then one could say Paul arrived through the side entrance after Ray Lewington honoured his agreement to stay at Watford.
But Paul, who was so instrumental in developing Ipswich's young players in recent years, has been a vital cog in the machine since his summer arrival.
"Paul Goddard is doing a terrific job," says Glenn.
"I haven't been on the training ground as much as I would have liked to have been, because I have been on the phone, or travelling around Europe, such as to France five or six times - not to mention other destinations.
"At times I haven't been out there as much as I want to be, and am going to be.
"But I've been very pleased with what Paul Goddard has done - he is a terrific coach.
"And I'm very glad that Roger Cross has stayed with the club, because he is doing a great job as well."
Glenn, who has reorganised his scouting staff, has no plans at present to add a coach to the team - despite numbers being down.
"There is one coach less at the club this year but between the two of them Paul and Roger are working really well as a pair.
"And when I have been getting out there I have seen that the sessions are very good - and the boys are enjoying the practices."
