The safety certificate allowing the game with Leeds to go ahead on
Saturday will be issued at noon on Friday.
The club have issued the following statement:
'West Ham United have had two days of successful testing, demonstrating to Newham council the safety systems installed in the new Dr. Martens stand, and everything has gone extremely well.
The licensing officers have now left the site and will return in the morning for final testing.
The safety certificate is to be issued at noon.'
Says MD Paul Aldridge:
""We were always confident of a successful outcome, whilst being aware that there are always possible last minute pitfalls where these matters are concerned.
"The club would like to thank Newham council, with whom we enjoy an excellent relationship, and all the staff who have worked, and are continuing to work, so tirelessly to ensure the Leeds game can go ahead without any problems."
One of the major factors in the building work going right up to the wire was the extremely wet weather this winter.
Fans who have tickets for the Dr. Martens stand upper tier, itself the same capacity as the old West stand in its entirety, will enjoy a superb view.
Even though it will be further from the pitch, recognition of players will not be a problem - and the vista is unobstructed by pillars.
When the lower tier is completed in November, the capacity will be 35,000.
Then, only the East stand will remain to be knocked down and rebuilt.
