Fans travelling to Nene Park for Monday night's friendly with
Rushden and Diamonds will have the opportunity to buy exclusive Dr
Martens boots, embossed with the West Ham United club crest, at
half price.
250 pairs will be on sale in the Doc Shop at Nene Park before the game retailing at £30 a pair, which is half the normal selling price.
They are available in 3 different styles and colours up until kick off, subject to availability - though demand is expected to be high.
The match itself should see the return of Joe Cole after he had to pull out of Friday's game at Notts. County, while Glenn Roeder will continue to rotate his other first team players during the evening.
Opposing boss Brian Talbot is expecting an evening of attractive football, and says:
"Fans will remember last year when Di Canio was magnificent and Joe Cole did one or two tricks, so if they come along and do the same thing on the night I think we'll have a good match.
"I think it will be a nice evening for the fans and the players to see top class players in action.
"Most importantly the night is for Garry Butterworth's services to the club.
"He started in the Beazer Homes League and has gone right through, as well as captaining England at non-league level.
"He's been the most loyal player they've had at this football club since it started, so it's a just reward for him, and it's tremendous that West Ham are going to bring a full first team to Nene Park in honour of Garry.
"It's a good cause; the fans like Butts, and hopefully they'll come out in numbers.
"My experience with testimonials is that teams try to pass the ball and provide some entertainment so I hope there's not going to be too many full blooded tackles - and I'm sure Glenn won't want that either.
"He doesn't want any injuries and nor do I; what I do think it will be is a good football match with hopefully some goals.
"I think testimonials should be about goals for the people who have paid to come in."
