Glenn Roeder is looking to up the ante in the friendly with Notts.
County as the big kick-off gets ever closer.
"I'm looking for a good 90 minute workout to improve our fitness base," he says.
"We have looked carefully at that side of things this summer, but obviously you can't legislate for unfortunate injuries."
The match will see the return of Joe Cole for what could be his first full friendly of the summer.
He was disappointed with the second half against Stevenage earlier in the week when he switched to a wing back system, and says:
"We will start off with our 4-4-2 and I'm sure this time we will stick with it through the game."
He is happy with the mood in training, and adds:
"I've had no complaints; everyone is working hard, and I think they are comfortable in the atmosphere."
Clarifying one of the rule changes he has made, concerning the use of mobile phones at Chadwell Heath, he says:
"I didn't say no mobiles phones in the dressing rooms, I said that in my opinion it is probably better that when they come to training they switch their mobiles off and leave them in the car rather than walk around with it stuck to their ear.
"Overall the players have responded, but I wasn't making it a hard and fast rule.
"I'm not being a stickler on that."
Saturday's reserve team friendly with Walton and Hersham has been cancelled.
