Mixed Emotions For Kids

West Ham's under-17 and under-19 sides experienced mixed fortunes in their FA Premier Youth Academy matches on Saturday.

The under-19s enjoyed a 3-2 win at Crystal Palace, thanks to a double strike from Amos Foyewa and one from Louis Riddle, while the under-17s - fielding several schoolboys - lost by the same scoreline to Coventry in their play-off match.

Goals from Cole and Pearson weren't enough against the Sky Blues, but coach Peter Brabrook said: "The young boys did very well and showed a lot of potential. I was pleased with Noble, who must only be 13, and the other two subs did well. This doesn't affect the play-offs."

On the older boys' victory, Tony Carr said: "It was a pleasing win on a bumpy pitch and we played much better in the second half."

Under-17s team: G.Sealey, A.Ferdinand, Ward, Fletcher (Parrington), Tattum, Akinsette (Law), Ritchie, D.McMahon, M.Cole, Pearson, Morris (Noble).

Under-19s team: J.Sealey, Clark (Khan), Riddle, Uddin, Laurie, Smith, Allen (Dean), Britton, Eastwood (Mehmet), Cascione, Foyewa.
