Back To The Future

Hammers fans can hark back to the glory years of Moore, Hurst and Peters with the new West Ham United home strip, launched by Fila, the club's official kit supplier, and available to order now from the online store.

The new kit will be worn by the team for the first time against Southampton on Saturday, May 5, the last home game of the season, although it will go on sale in all club shops on Friday, May 4.

The new kit is retro in design, taking inspiration from the 60s and 70s era. Fans will see the similarities in design between the new strip and that worn by the likes of legends Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, emphasising the Club's tradition and heritage. The jersey features a crossover crew neck in sky blue with a claret striped trim to give it the retro look.

The new strip has been designed and manufactured by Fila, using a new textured F-Tec fabric. F-Tec is Fila's high-performance sports fabric, which allows moisture to pass quickly from the skin to the surface of the kit to ensure optimum comfort and performance for the players on the pitch.

Eamon McDaid, product line manager of Fila UK, says: "We wanted to create a new strip that would continue to give fans that sense of pride and kinship when they put on a West Ham United shirt. We undertook in-depth research of previous West Ham United strips, going right back to the 60s and 70s, and worked closely with the Club to create a strip that reflected West Ham United's proud heritage and tradition."

The new shirt will have a recommended retail price of £39.99, lower than previous shirts. This reflects the success of previous Fila West Ham United jerseys, with two shirt designs in the top five of the Match magazine opinion poll.
