As planning meetings continue apace at Hammers HQ as the lower tier starts to take shape, Grant says that even if the pitch is a long way from the Dr Martens stand at the moment, the noise is plentiful.
He played his home senior game against Leeds on Saturday, and says:
"The atmosphere is brilliant, especially when the team is on top, and I really enjoyed it.
"But I tried to blank everything out when I played.
"My girlfriend and aunt were there but my parents didn't make it because of illness.
"But that is the home debut under my belt and hopefully there are plenty more to come.
"It looked quite slow from the bench but when I came on I realised how quick it is."
He was satisfied with the team performance, and adds:
"I think we had more chances than they did - Toddy had a good chance when he knocked it over the bar and Paolo had a couple of chances, not to mention Michael's long shot.
"Everyone worked really hard and did well."
But he didn't notice the incident when Joe Cole had a 'goal' disallowed.
"I was actually warming up at the time so I didn't see it, but everyone was complaining long after the game."
Having played against two of the contenders for the title this season, albeit as sub, he has certainly gained a little useful Premiership experience, and delivers the following verdict:
"I didn't think it was as hard against Leeds as against Liverpool, to be honest.
"But I'm still getting used to playing against good players."
Grant, currently on Northern Ireland U21 duty, knows that shining for his country will keep him in Glenn Roeder's thoughts.
With Don Hutchison now on board, a midfield berth looks to be a little further away, though, like Eire U21 international Shaun Byrne, also away on duty for his country at the moment, he has the perceived advantage of being left footed.
"I knew a midfielder would be signed," he says, "but all competition is good for the club."
