Arsenal v West Ham United
Premier League, Emirates Stadium, Saturday 4 October 2025, 3pm BST
West Ham United will be looking to follow up Monday night's positive point away at Everton when we return to Premier League action on the road against Arsenal on Saturday.
In new Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo's first match in charge, the Hammers fought back to earn a deserved 1-1 draw on Merseyside, with Jarrod Bowen notching his third goal of the season, and second in the space of two games.
Having had just two training sessions to work with his players before the trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Nuno has been implementing his ideas at Rush Green in the run up to the weekend's short journey to the red half of north London, where he will be looking for another strong performance and result.
Though Arsenal are among the favourites for the top-flight title this season, after finishing as runners-up in each of the last three campaigns, West Ham will be encouraged by a strong recent run against the Gunners, which has seen them win on their previous two visits to the Emirates.
As it stands, Saturday's hosts are second in the table after six outings, having beaten Manchester United, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, drawn with Manchester City and suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at defending champions Liverpool.
Following a last-gasp 2-1 win at Newcastle last time out in the league, ahead of a 2-0 victory over Greek outfit Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, Mikel Arteta's men will surely be full of confidence back on home soil and eager to strengthen their hopes of lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2003/04.

Team News…
Nuno Espírito Santo will hold his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon. However, we know that Tomáš Souček will be absent as he completes his three-match suspension, having been sent-off against Tottenham Hotspur in mid-September.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has missed the Hammers' last three outings, and will be hoping to be available.
For Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke are all set to miss the clash with knee injuries, while Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié - who is on loan from Bayer Leverkusen - is nursing a groin problem and is a doubt.

Opposition…
When Arsenal thumped Leeds United 4-1 at Emirates Stadium on 1 April 2023, it appeared just a matter of time before the Gunners were crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2003/04.
Victory over the relegation-bound Yorkshire side - Mikel Arteta’s 100th as manager and Arsenal’s seventh top-flight win in a row - put Arsenal eight points clear at the top of the table with nine games to play.
Pundits purred at the way Arsenal were ‘cruising’ to victories. However, a run of three draws and three defeats in their closing nine matches saw Manchester City roar past their rivals to claim the title.
A year later, in 2023/24, Arsenal won 28 of their 38 Premier League matches, conceded just 29 goals, scored 91 and amassed 89 points - just one fewer than the 90 won by the ‘Invincibles’ 20 years earlier. After losing at home to West Ham United in late December, Arsenal tasted defeat just once in their final 18 matches, collecting 50 points from a possible 54.
And yet still that wasn’t enough.
Again, it was Manchester City who pipped the north Londoners to the crown, going unbeaten from 10 December until the end of the season and going top with a 2-0 win at Arsenal’s great rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the final week of the season.
While Manchester City were a shadow of their former selves in 2024/25, and ultimately finished third after losing nine of their 38 games, Arsenal were still unable to end their wait to lift the coveted trophy.
A seven-game unbeaten start powered Arteta's troops to within a point of the summit by the start of October, but two defeats in the following three games - away at Bournemouth and Newcastle - five draws between November and January, and a run of just three victories between 22 February and 11 May opened the door for Liverpool to secure top spot by a ten-point margin in Arne Slot's first term in charge.
Incidently, West Ham's 1-0 triumph at Emirates Stadium in February 2025, the teams' last meeting, sparked that last tricky run, following a 15-game unbeaten streak.
The Gunners were struck by a number of injuries to key players throughout the season, with the likes of Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli all being consigned to spells on the sidelines, but by the end of May there remained a familiar sense of 'what might have been' among the fanbase.
The summer recruitment of the likes of Viktor Gyökeres, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Martín Zubimendi has strengthened Arteta's cause, and his team have duly impressed in the opening weeks, being beaten only by defending champions Liverpool, who are currently two points ahead at the top of the Premier League.
Having faced Slot's Reds, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle in their first six league fixtures, Arsenal will be eager to build on their strong start over the coming weeks, with fixtures against Fulham, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Sunderland to follow West Ham's visit to N7 this weekend.
Previous Meetings…
West Ham United were the first visiting team to win at Emirates Stadium after Arsenal opened their new home in the summer of 2006.
The Irons were struggling in the Premier League when Bobby Zamora struck a long-range winner and Robert Green’s unbeatable performance in goal secured a shock 1-0 victory over the Gunners in April 2007.
We ended a run of eight straight defeats in N5 - seven in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup - when Tomáš Souček and Dinos Mavropanos scored in a 2-0 win at the end of December 2023, then backed that up when Jarrod Bowen scored the winner in a 1-0 victory in February 2025.
Our other Premier League victory at Emirates Stadium was under Slaven Bilić in August 2015, when Cheikhou Kouyaté and Mauro Zárate found the net on Dimitri Payet’s Premier League debut for the Club.
