West Ham United Academy midfielder Gabriel Caliste has received his third senior call-up to the Mauritius national team for their upcoming participation in the COSAFA Cup.
Hosted in Mangaung (Bloemfontein), South Africa, the annual tournament for Southern African nations will run from 4 to 15 June.
The call-up follows a season in which Caliste signed his first professional contract with the Hammers and helped his U18s side win the Premier League Cup, scoring in the quarter-final against defending champions Manchester United and featuring in the 2-1 final win over Reading.
The 18-year-old made his senior international debut in September, featuring in friendlies against India and Syria in Hyderabad, before earning another cap during the November international break away to Hong Kong. A torn hamstring ruled him out of March's FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers, where Mauritius drew 3-3 with Eswatini before suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cape Verde.
Speaking to the Mauritius Football Association following his call-up, Caliste said: “It’s been a really good season with the U18s. I’ve trained with the first team, a really good experience, we won the Premier League Cup, a big achievement for us.
“I got injured earlier in the season unfortunately so missed the World Cup qualifiers with a torn hamstring. I’ve been working in the gym to get back and I'm really excited to compete with the team in the COSAFA Cup.”
Mauritius have progressed past the first round of the COSAFA Cup only once since the tournament’s inception in 1997, reaching the quarter-finals in 2001.
