Born: 16 March 1991, Kinna, Sweden
Swede Linus Kandolin was appointed as West Ham United’s men’s first-team goalkeeper coach in July 2025, reuniting him with Head Coach Graham Potter after the pair had previously worked together at Swedish club Östersunds FK between 2015 and 2018.
Born in the small town of Kinna, 35 miles south east of Gothenburg in Sweden’s Västra Götaland County, Kandolin completed a degree in sports science at Mittuniversitetet (Mid Sweden University) before being appointed as goalkeeper coach at Östersund in January 2015.
He spent four years on Potter’s staff at Östersund Arena, during which the club won promotion to the top-flight Allsvenskan, won the Swedish Cup and reached the UEFA Europa League round of 32, keeping clean sheets against PAOK of Greece, Hertha Berlin of Germany and Zorya Luhansk of Ukraine along the way.
Those achievements saw Kandolin move to IF Elfsborg in January 2019. He would spend six seasons at the Borås Arena, during which Elfsborg would finish as Allsvenskan runners-up in 2020 and 2023 under manager Jimmy Thelin.
Under Kandolin’s guidance, Hakón Valdimarsson became an Iceland international and earned a move to Premier League club Brentford and Mattias Dyngeland made his Norway debut before moving to Eliteserien side SK Brann.
He has also worked as goalkeeper coach for the Sweden U21 squad.
