Casper Ankergren | Lead First-Team Goalkeeper Coach

Born: 9 November 1979, Køge, Denmark

Casper Ankergren was appointed as West Ham United's lead first-team goalkeeper coach in July 2025, joining from Danish side Brøndby, where he spent the previous four years as Head of Goalkeeping.

Born in the Danish port town of Køge, Ankergren began his playing career with his hometown club before joining Brøndby, with whom he won the Danish Cup in 2003 and Superliga and Cup double in 2005. He was also capped by Denmark at U21 level and called-up to the senior squad.

In 2007, he moved to England with Leeds United, became a popular figure for his outstanding performances as the club reached the EFL League One Play-Off final in 2008, and was part of the squad which won promotion in 2010. He joined Brighton & Hove Albion that summer and kept 20 clean sheets to help the Seagulls win the League One title.

Ankergren remained with Brighton after hanging up his gloves in 2017 and joined Chris Hughton’s coaching staff as assistant to goalkeeper coach Ben Roberts, remaining in the role following Graham Potter’s appointment in 2019 until he returned to Denmark with Brøndby in September 2021.
