Defender Luizão joined West Ham United in January 2023 from São Paulo.

Luizão initially joined up with Mark Robson’s developmental squad, in order to continue his evolution at the Academy of Football, and made his debut for the U21s in a 2-1 win away to Everton on 6 January 2023.

A string of impressive outings followed for the young Brazilian, who became a regular starter in the U21s following his debut. 

Luizão would end the 2022/23 campaign with 14 appearances in all competitions for the development team, scoring his first goal for the Club in a 3-3 draw away to Crystal Palace U21s in April.

The Brazilian centre-back continued to be a mainstay for the U21s at the back during the 2023/24 campaign, featuring 23 times and scoring three goals as the young Hammers finished second in the Premier League 2 regular season and reached the last 16 of the EFL Trophy.
