Hammers fans flock to store signings

West Ham United fans turned out in force at the Club's Official Lakeside and Romford Stores on Tuesday afternoon to meet their Hammers heroes.

Fresh from Saturday's fantastic victory over Manchester City, Alex Song, James Collins, Morgan Amalfitano, Adrian, Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell all took time out to show their gratitude to the Claret and Blue army.

With the October half-term holidays in full swing, the two venues were heaving with excited young Hammers and Spanish stopper Adrian was overwhelmed by the support.

"I'm so proud to see the little kids wearing my shirt," he said. "I've only been here two years and all the people have shown me such warmth, they sing my name. It's beautiful.

"For me, it's easy and it's a pleasure. The children are so excited to see you, it's great. I'm very happy, it's a good moment for West Ham and all the fans are excited for the team and for what's to come this season."

Local youngsters Dylan Bregman and Harry Beveridge certainly enjoyed their day out and felt the timing could hardly have been better.

"It was great, great to meet the players in the flesh who are out there doing the business on the pitch.

"The turnout shows how strong our fanbase is and that it means a lot to us. We're a big Club and it deserves all the attention that it's getting.

"We've started so well and I'm really optimistic for the season. We'll get there, Champions League next season, any day!"

Hammers full-back Aaron Cresswell was a little more measured in his football predictions, but thoroughly enjoyed his day out in this, the Hammers' heartland.

He added: "It's always nice to give something back to the fans. It was a great turnout and things are going well on the pitch, which always helps, so it was a great day.

"The kids are off school at the minute and so many of them turned out. It's West Ham, we're a massive Club! That's great to see and to put smiles on their faces is fantastic."

James Collins, who visited the Lakeside store, added: "The supporters have been tremendous - events like these are the chance we have to give something back to them for the tremendous support. I have been to a few of these in my time here at the Club and they're great to do."
