Lucas Paquetá scored a dramatic equaliser as Brazil drew 3-3 in a friendly thriller with Spain in Madrid on Tuesday night.
Brazil looked as if they would be on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat. despite coming from 2-0 down to level, when Rodri netted his second of the game from the spot three minutes from time.
But Brazil were awarded a penalty of their own in stoppage time, and Paquetá made no mistake from 12 yards to ensure the spoils would be shared.
Rodri opened the scoring at the Santiago Bernabéu, before Dani Olmo doubled the advantage on 36 minutes.
Rodrygo and Endrick then netted either side of the break before the late drama - and Paquetá's tenth international goal.
Elsewhere, Dinos Mavropanos’ Greece fell at the final hurdle of UEFA Euro 2024 qualification, as they were defeated by Georgia in a penalty shootout in their play-off final.
Greece were denied their first appearance at a major finals for ten years in heartbreaking fashion, as hosts Georgia prevailed after a goalless 120 minutes.
Mavropanos’ side battled their way to the play-off final after winning their group in UEFA Nations League C, and then defeating Kazakhstan in a semi-final tie.
But they were unable to find a way past Georgia in Tbilisi, with penalties required to separate the sides.
Misses from Anastasios Bakasetas and Giorgos Giakoumakis proved pivotal, as Georgia held their nerve to win 4-2 on spot-kicks.
Jarrod Bowen had a goal chalked off following a VAR review in England’s 2-2 draw with Belgium.
Bowen thought he had nodded the Three Lions 2-1 ahead 27 minutes into the Wembley friendly clash – and scored his first England goal in the process – only for a check to show he was offside from Declan Rice’s knockdown following a corner.
Ivan Toney’s penalty had earlier cancelled out Youri Tielemans’ opener, only for the Aston Villa man to notch again before the break and restore the Belgians’ lead.
However, England kept plugging away and were eventually rewarded in second half stoppage time when Jude Bellingham drew them level once again.
Tomáš Souček, meanwhile, captained Czech Republic in their 2-1 friendly win against Armenia in Prague.
The Czechs had to come from behind after Edgar Sevikyan gave Armenia an early lead, but goals by Ladislav Krejčí and Tomáš Chorý completed the turnaround, as the home side made it two wins from two friendlies in this international window.
Alphonse Areola was an unused substitute in France’s 3-2 friendly win against Chile in Marseille.
In qualifying for the 2025 UEFA U21 Euro finals, Krisztián Hegyi and Patrick Kelly started in 3-0 and 2-1 victories for Hungary and Northern Ireland over Kazakhstan and Serbia respectively.
Hungary are three points behind second-placed Scotland in Group B, but Northern Ireland find themselves eight points adrift of the top two in Group F.
Finally, Divin Mubama started England’s Elite League squad’s (formerly Under-20s) 3-1 victory in the Czech Republic.
