Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history...

Christian Dailly's first West Ham United goal was enough to see off the challenge of Reading in a Division One clash on this day in 2003.

The Scotland defender had been a Hammer for two-and-a-half years and was making his 88th appearance for the Club when he headed home on 17 minutes.

Both teams were managerless at the time - the Hammers had Sir Trevor Brooking in temporary charge, while Alan Pardew had just left the Royals, and would take up the reins at the Boleyn Ground five days later.

Watch Dailly's first goal in Claret and Blue again above!
