Joe Scanlon joined the Academy at U9s before developing through the age-groups and signing his scholarship in the summer of 2025.

A highly technical player who is eager to join the attack from the left-back position, Scanlon has high energy and an excellent range of passing.

As an Under-16, Scanlon was already a regular feature in the U18s squad. He made his U18 Premier League debut against Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2024 as a 15-year-old, creating the equalising goal in a 1-1 draw.

In his 16 appearances for the U18s during the 2024/25 season, Scanlon registered three assists and scored his first goal in a 4-2 defeat to Southampton.

In his first full season with the U18s he achieved a team-high eight assists in all competitions, making 30 appearances, more than any other player. The 2025/26 season also saw him make his U21s debut, starting in a 1-0 win over RSC Anderlecht in the Premier League International Cup.

Scanlon was also instrumental to our young Hammers’ U17 Premier League Cup triumph, scoring three goals and playing the full 90 minutes in our 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers in the final.
