On This Day: West Ham's final day heroics leave Spurs feeling sick

Tottenham Hotspur were left feeling sick on 7 May 2006 as their UEFA Champions League hopes were dashed by West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground.

With their pre-match preparations being disrupted by a bout of food poisoning amongst their squad, Tottenham fell behind when Carl Fletcher lashed the Hammers in front after ten minutes.

Although Jermain Defoe levelled for Spurs and the visitors were further boosted when Paul Robinson saved Teddy Sheringham's penalty, they fell to defeat when Yossi Benayoun ruined their chances of a top-four finish with a spectacular late winner.
