Jarrod Bowen

Bowen included in England squad for March internationals

Jarrod Bowen has been included in the England squad for March’s international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.

The West Ham United forward has impressed throughout 2023/24, with his 14 goals in 27 Premier League games placing him joint-fifth in the race for the Golden Boot as it stands.

Indeed, the 27-year-old is now joint-fourth alongside Carlton Cole amongst West Ham's leading Premier League scorers on 41 goals, behind only Michail Antonio (63), Paolo Di Canio (47) and Mark Noble (47).

Having featured both out wide and more centrally for David Moyes’ charges this term, he has also notched two goals in the EFL Cup and once in the FA Cup, and contributed six assists in all competitions.

Such form has not been lost on Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate, who has been in attendance at West Ham’s last two Premier League fixtures, and Bowen could now be in line to win his first international cap since October 2023, and add to his tally of five.

In their last bout of exhibition action before the squad is named for UEFA Euro 2024 in the summer, England are set to host five-time world champions Brazil first up at Wembley at 7pm GMT on Saturday 23 March, meaning Bowen could line up opposite his Irons teammate Lucas Paquetá.

A second high-profile clash will see Southgate’s men take on Domenico Tedesco’s Belgium back at Football HQ at 7.45pm GMT on Tuesday 26 March, with the two sides set to go head-to-head for the first time since England fell to a 2-0 UEFA Nations League defeat in Leuven in November 2020.

Both games will be broadcast live in the UK by Channel 4.
