What were your first impressions of the Premier League, and how it differs from the Brazilian league? Fernando
The competition is completely different. Of course they’re both very competitive, but I find that the Premier League is quicker, your decision making has to be very sharp and the intensity is higher. In Brazil, it’s also high, but here it’s completely different.
You played for the U21s early in the season - have you been impressed with the depth of talent at the Club? Jack Wood
Yes, they’re good players that are regularly training with the first team. I believe West Ham is well prepared for the future. When I played that game with the U21s against Benfica (in the Premier League International Cup, in September 2024), there was real quality, and I’m sure the Club will reap the benefits of the Academy players in the future.

Who was your footballing idol growing up? Mykil Wylsin
I’ve always followed Neymar and Lionel Messi. They’re two guys I still watch videos of today, pre-match or on a day when I’m more relaxed at home. I always watch videos of these two players who I admire a lot.
Has anything surprised you about the size of West Ham, or the Premier League? Josh Murrell
Yes, of course. West Ham is a very traditional Club here in England, and before I came here, I made sure I learnt more about the Club. I was amazed by both the project and the league, as well as the fans who are very passionate. I was very excited to come and play.
I haven’t been recognised a lot, but I’ve had a couple of fans ask me for a photo!

Who are your best mates in the squad? Jacob Barker
Emerson and Lucas Paquetá. We don’t really spend time together outside the training ground as they have young families, but at Rush Green, they’re my best friends.
You are one of the fastest players on our team, but in addition to your pace, would you rather have Niclas Füllkrug’s shooting ability or James Ward-Prowse’s passing? Jack Severn
As an attacker, I’ve got to go with Fülle’s shooting!
How have you found living in London so far? Fin Wooding
I like staying at home, actually. I’m quite a homey guy. Being with my wife, we got two puppies recently, so I like to stay at home and relax with them. Sometimes we venture into the city centre. I’ve visited Tower Bridge, the London Eye and other touristy places, but overall I prefer staying at home.

What are your short and long-term ambitions for your time at West Ham? TJ Cooper
I hope I can contribute as much as possible, play, help the team on the pitch and always evolve with them. I want to learn as much as possible and, who knows, achieve great things.
Who would you say is the most skilled player on the team? Zinnia
There are three who stand out to me - Emerson, Lucas Paquetá and Mohammed Kudus. Kudus is a great player who I love to watch. Jarrod Bowen too - they’re guys I always try to learn as much as possible from, whether it’s by talking to them or watching them train so I can do it on the pitch too.
How well have you adapted to the English weather?! William Lord
Quite easily, I’d say. It’s more the language that I’m having difficulty adjusting to!

How much would it mean to you to score your first senior goal for West Ham? Leo
The feeling would be indescribable. I hope I can do it as soon as possible, because I’ve been training a lot and I’m already adapted to the league. I had a good opportunity against Bournemouth, in April. That’s part of it, trying to improve in training so I can be ready for the game.
What was it about West Ham that made it the right Club for you last summer? Connor O’Herlihy
The Club’s project made me very excited about coming here. The staff gave me all the support I needed, all the confidence, and I think that was it.
How important has your family been in your life and on your journey? Rhys Gibbons
They’ve always been there for me, ever since I started dreaming of becoming a professional footballer. They’ve always been with me, they’ve always given me all the support, so that I could have peace of mind. A lot of the time, there are players who are starting out who feel a lot of pressure to help their families, they have this weight that they carry, but my family always made me as comfortable as possible so that I could play or train with peace of mind, which was to fulfil my dream.
