Women's team's October internationals | All You Need To Know

A Club record 20 West Ham United women’s team players will be on international duty over the course of the October international window.

From crucial UEFA Women’s Nations League fixtures to CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League clashes, it will be a busy period for our players on the international stage. And what’s more, many of our Hammers will be coming up against each other over the next week or so.

So, here’s all you need to know about your Irons on international duty during the October break.

Amber Tysiak

Who has been called up?

We’ll start with the Hammers in UEFA Women’s Nations League action and it will be an international window to remember for Shekiera Martinez, who has been called up to Germany’s senior squad for the first time in her career. Our No19, who has shone since her Claret and Blue debut in January, has been selected by Christian Wück for Germany’s semi-final with France.

After finishing top of Group A1, Germany will go head-to-head with the Group A2 winners over two legs in the last four, with the sides set to meet first at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Düsseldorf at 4.45pm BST on Friday 24 October, before reconvening at the Stade Michel-d'Ornano in Caen at 8.10pm GMT on Tuesday 28 October.

Meanwhile, Oona Siren and Eva Nyström will be hoping to clinch promotion to League A with Finland in their play-off clash with Denmark.

Helmarit, who finished second in Group B3, will first host Denmark on Friday 24 October at Tammelan Stadion, Tampere, for a 5pm BST kick-off. The reverse fixture will take place on Tuesday 28 October at 5pm GMT at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.

Vying to stay in League A are Verena Hanshaw and Austria, who ended their league campaign third in Group A1, having faced Germany, the Netherlands and Scotland and collected six points from as many games.

Irene Fuhrmann’s side will now face Group B4’s second-place finishers Czechia. The first leg will take place at Městský Fotbalový Stadion in Brno in the Czech Republic on Friday 24 October, with kick-off at 4.30pm BST. Austria will then host the second leg at Generali Arena in Vienna at 5pm GMT on Tuesday 28 October.

Also hoping to remain in League A are Amber Tysiak’s Belgium, and our No5 will see some familiar faces during her promotion/relegation play-off with Group B2 runners-up, the Republic of Ireland, as Jess Ziu and Jessie Stapleton have been called up to Carla Ward’s squad.

This is Ziu's first call-up to an international squad since July 2024 after she recently recovered from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury she sustained in August last year.

The first leg, on Friday 24 October at 7pm BST, will be a special game for both Dublin-born Stapleton and Ziu, as it presents them with the opportunity to play at the Aviva Stadium. The return fixture at 7.30pm GMT on Tuesday 28 October will take place at King Power at Den Dreef Stadion, in Leuven, where the aggregate winners of the tie will earn their League A status.

Manuela Paví

Elsewhere, midfielder Halle Houssein has been called up by Türkiye for their play-off with Group C6 runners-up Kosovo.

The 20-year-old lifelong Hammer, who signed her first professional contract with the Club in the summer of 2023, was called up by Necla Güngör Kırağası in May for her country's final round of Group B2 fixtures, as Turkey finished third in the standings.

The teams will first meet at Pristina City Stadium in Kosovo on Friday 24 October at 4pm BST, before the second leg at 5pm GMT on Tuesday 28 October at Göztepe Gürsel Aksel Stadı.

Two Hammers are in CONMEBOL Women’s Nations League action during the October international break - the first edition of the tournament, which will act as qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Winger Manuela Paví has been called up to Colombia’s squad, who will first host Peru on Saturday 25 October at 12midnight BST before traveling to Ecuador for an 11pm GMT kick-off on Tuesday 28 October.

Meanwhile, Camila Sáez’s Chile will first travel to Venezuela on Friday 24 October, with kick-off at 10pm BST, before hosting Bolivia on Tuesday 28 October at 9pm GMT.

Colombia and Chile are both in a league alongside Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, with Brazil absent as they have already qualified as hosts for next summer's World Cup.

Inès Belloumou

Elsewhere, left-back Inès Belloumou has been named in Algeria’s squad for their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualification fixtures against Cameroon.

The two sides will face off over two legs in the second round of qualification for the 2026 edition of the competition. The first leg will take place at Miloud Hadefi Stadium, in Oran, Algeria, on Thursday 23 October at 7pm BST ahead of the reverse fixture on Tuesday 28 October, in Douala, at 2.30pm GMT.

Sarah Brasero and Anouk Denton have been named in Emma Coates’ England U23s squad for their WU23 European Competition fixtures.

For the 2025/26 edition of the competition, the Young Lionesses have been drawn in Group A alongside Portugal, France, Germany and Norway. They will get their campaign up and running against Germany U23s at SportPark Johannisau in Fulda on Thursday 23 October, which will kick off at 5.15pm BST, and will then host Portugal U23s at Northampton’s Sixfields Stadium at 7pm GMT on Monday 27 October.

We also have several Hammers competing in international friendlies this month. Summer signing Ffion Morgan has been called up to Wales’ squad for their pair of friendlies against Katrina Gorry’s Australia and Kinga Szemik’s Poland.

Wales will first face the Matildas at 2pm BST on Saturday 25 October at Cardiff City Stadium in the Welsh capital, before a home clash at Rodney Parade, Newport, against Poland on Tuesday 28 October, which kicks off at 7.45pm GMT.

Kinga Szemik

Hammers skipper Gorry will then travel to Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium to face reigning European champions England on Tuesday 28 October, with kick-off at 7pm GMT.

Before facing Wales, Szemik’s Poland will host the Netherlands at PGE Arena in Gdańsk on Friday 24 October, with kick-off at 5pm BST.

Switzerland international Leila Wandeler and Canada international Shelina Zadorsky could also go head-to-head in a friendly on Friday 24 October at Swissporarena in Lucerne, with kick-off coming at 6.30pm BST.

Wandeler’s side then have an away trip to Scotland on Tuesday 28 October, when they will visit East End Park in Dunfermline, at 7.30pm GMT, whilst Canada will travel to Nijmegen for a friendly with the Netherlands on Tuesday 28 October at 7.45pm GMT.

Striker Riko Ueki has been called up by Japan for friendlies against Italy on Friday 24 October at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in Como at 5.15pm BST, and Norway in Cádiz, Spain, on Tuesday 28 October in a 5pm GMT kick-off.

And finally, midfielder Anna Csiki has been named in Hungary's squad for their October friendlies. They will first face Luxembourg in Budapest on Friday 24 October, with kick-off at 5pm BST, before making the trip to Senec to face Slovakia on Tuesday 28 October at 3pm GMT.

Where can I watch the games?

You can watch our skipper Gorry in action against England on Tuesday 28 October on ITV and ITVX, whilst Brasero and Denton’s Young Lionesses fixture at home to Portugal U23s will be streamed live on England’s YouTube channel.
