Women's Loan Watch | Flannery's Charlton remain unbeaten at the top of WSL 2

Three West Ham United women’s team loanees featured for their respective temporary clubs over the weekend...

Keira Flannery’s Charlton Athletic remain four points clear at the top of the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 table, maintaining their unbeaten start to the league season with a 2-0 win at home to third-place Bristol City on Sunday.

The midfielder once again played all 90 minutes for the Addicks, as she went up against fellow Hammers loanee Camila Sáez, who started in the Robins’ defence, while Jess Ziu did not make Bristol City’s matchday squad.

After a goalless first half, the game was soon put beyond the visitors in the space of five second-half minutes. Karin Muya was fouled in the box on 50 minutes, leaving Katie Bradley to tuck home the penalty shortly before Gracie Pearse finished from close range.

Both sides will turn their attention to the Subway® Women's League Cup at the weekend, as Charlton host Southampton in Group C while Bristol City look to climb off the bottom of Group E against Tottenham Hotspur.

Also unbeaten and top of their division are Rebekah Dowsett and Soraya Walsh’s Watford, who secured a scintillating 7-0 victory at home to Gwalia United on Sunday in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division.

Both West Ham loanees started among the Hornets’ substitutes at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium, and with her side six goals to the good, Walsh was introduced just after the hour mark, seven minutes before the home side bagged their seventh as Maddie Perry completed her hat-trick.

The Hornets are in Adobe Women’s FA Cup second-round action on Sunday, as they host Saltdean United.

Meanwhile, defender Jessie Stapleton was not involved in Nottingham Forest’s goalless draw at Sheffield United after she was sent off against Birmingham City last Monday night.
