West Ham United v Nottingham Forest

Starting XI | Coufal and Cresswell start on final London Stadium appearance

West Ham United Head Coach Graham Potter has named an unchanged starting XI for Sunday’s home Premier League finale against Nottingham Forest at London Stadium.

That means Vladimír Coufal and Aaron Cresswell will sign-off their Hammers careers by being on the pitch from kick-off in their respective final home games for the Club.

Coufal will make his 82nd appearance at London Stadium in Claret and Blue, and his 179th appearance for the Club in all competitions at all venues. The Czechia international right-back is still seeking his first goal for West Ham in what will be his 146th Premier League game since joining from Slavia Prague in October 2020.

Cresswell ranks second in all-time Premier League appearances for the Club with 310, behind only Mark Noble’s 414. The left-sided defender has provided ten goals, 30 assists, kept 66 clean sheets and celebrated 114 wins in the top-flight since his arrival from Ipswich Town in July 2014.

Today’s match marks Cresswell’s 137th appearance at London Stadium and 367th game of his West Ham career in total.

Coufal and Cresswell, who will depart the Irons when their contracts expire at the end of June, will protect a goal being kept by Alphonse Areola, who is making his 100th appearance for West Ham.

The France international produced a superb display in last weekend’s 2-0 win at Manchester United and will hope to keep consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League for the first time since February, when he did so in wins over Arsenal and Leicester City.

Areola’s fellow countryman Jean-Clair Todibo starts for the eleventh time in 12 Premier League matches, and the 19th time in the top-flight this season.

The back five will be completed, as it was at Old Trafford, by two players who have been consistent performers all season.

Ever-present Maximilian Kilman is one of just 12 players to have started every match for their respective team this season, and one of just seven outfield players alongside Chelsea’s Moisés Caicedo, Brentford’s Nathan Collins and Bryan Mbeumo, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah and AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. He has missed just 71 minutes of Premier League football in 2024/25.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka plays for the 35th time in the Premier League, and makes his 34th start. The versatile defender has scored two goals and registered four assists.

The midfield will be anchored by Guido Rodríguez, who returned to the starting XI at Manchester United, and who could battle fellow Argentina international Nicolás Domínguez, who has been a regular for Nottingham Forest this season.

Rodríguez will be partnered by James Ward-Prowse, who spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at the City Ground.

Tomáš Souček, who scored West Ham’s opening goal at Manchester United last time out, is seeking another one that would take him to ten Premier League goals for the season for the second time in his Hammers career and first time since 2020/21.

Captain Jarrod Bowen doubled West Ham’s lead at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old has been directly involved in six goals in his last six Premier League games, scoring four times and contributing two assists.

Mohammed Kudus completes the starting XI. The Ghanaian provided the assist for Souček’s goal and played a central part in the build-up for Bowen’s clincher last time out.

The substitutes’ bench will be filled by a third player who will depart this summer in goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański, defenders Emerson and Konstantinos Mavropanos, midfielders Edson Álvarez, Carlos Soler, Lucas Paquetá and Luis Guilherme and forwards Evan Ferguson and Niclas Füllkrug.

The senior players not involved in the matchday 20 are goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and striker Danny Ings, who will depart this summer. Former Forest forward Michail Antonio and winger Crysencio Summerville remain on the sidelines as they work their way back from a broken leg and hamstring surgery respectively.
